Should I memorize my pieces?
Although appreciated, memorization is not required and most candidates do not memorize their pieces.
Will there be time to warm up?
Yes. We expect to have one group warm-up room accessible at least 30 minutes before your audition, and an individual warm-up room accessible for ~15 minutes shortly before your audition. We will send more details on warm-ups to candidates closer to the time of auditions.
Are these the same as seating auditions?
Accepted string players will have separate principal auditions on 9/14. For woodwind, brass, and percussion candidates, these are the only auditions. Note that HRO uses does rotate principal seats between pieces.
Should I bring a pianist?
No, piano accompaniment during auditions is not required or accepted.
